Solano-Napa Pet Specialty & Emergency provides advanced veterinary surgery for dogs and cats at our Fairfield hospital. Our surgical services include orthopedic procedures, soft tissue surgery, and emergency surgery for pets that require specialized care.

Led by Dr. Tiffany Kan, our surgical team works closely with pet owners and referring veterinarians to develop individualized treatment plans based on each patient's condition and surgical needs.

Orthopedic Veterinary Surgery

Orthopedic conditions can affect a pet's bones, joints, ligaments, and mobility. Some injuries can be managed without surgery, while others require surgical treatment to restore stability, reduce pain, and support long-term function.

Our orthopedic veterinary surgery capabilities include procedures for certain fractures, ligament injuries, and other orthopedic conditions affecting dogs and cats.

TPLO Surgery for Dogs

A torn cranial cruciate ligament, often called a CCL injury, is one of the most common orthopedic problems affecting dogs. When surgery is appropriate, TPLO surgery may be recommended to stabilize the knee and help restore comfortable movement.

TPLO, or tibial plateau leveling osteotomy, changes the mechanics of the knee so the joint can remain stable without relying on the damaged ligament.

Every orthopedic patient is evaluated individually to determine whether TPLO or another treatment approach is appropriate.

Soft Tissue Surgery

Soft tissue surgery involves areas of the body outside the bones and joints. Depending on the condition, these procedures may involve the abdomen, skin, wounds, internal organs, or other soft tissues.

Dr. Tiffany Kan has advanced surgical training with particular experience in intra-abdominal surgery, fracture repair, and open wound management.

Soft tissue procedures may be recommended for conditions such as:

  • Gastrointestinal foreign bodies
  • Abdominal conditions requiring surgical treatment
  • Wounds and traumatic injuries
  • Certain masses or abnormal tissue
  • Other conditions requiring advanced surgical intervention

The exact procedure recommended will depend on your pet's diagnosis and overall health.

Emergency Veterinary Surgery

Because Solano-Napa Pet Specialty & Emergency provides emergency veterinary care 24 hours a day, seven days a week, our team can also evaluate pets that may require emergency surgical treatment.

Emergency surgery may be necessary following a serious injury, internal complication, obstruction, or other condition where waiting could put a pet's health at risk.

If your pet may be experiencing an emergency, call (707) 864-1444 or bring your pet to our Fairfield hospital.

What to Expect Before Veterinary Surgery

Before surgery, the veterinary team will evaluate your pet and determine what diagnostic testing is necessary. Depending on the procedure and the patient's condition, this may include bloodwork and diagnostic imaging.

These evaluations help the surgical team understand your pet's overall condition, plan the procedure, and determine the safest approach to anesthesia and surgical care.
