Dr. Ryan Wheeler

Veterinarian


Dr. Ryan Wheeler grew up in the Bay Area with a love of animals, medicine, and the outdoors.

Dr. Wheeler graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine with a passion for emergency medicine and critical care.

Upon graduation he completed his internship at Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston, then worked at a busy ER in Pennsylvania before pursuing a residency to become board certified in Emergency and Critical Care.

Following his residency, Dr. Wheeler worked in private practices helping build critical care services in Bay Area hospitals. With over 15 years of experience, Dr. Wheeler enjoys caring for critically ill and injured patients while supporting their owners through difficult times.

Dr. Wheeler has published papers in the Journal of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care, has authored a chapter in the book Monitoring and Intervention for the Critically Ill Small Animal, and has lectured at the veterinary trauma conference.

Dr. Wheeler has a special interest in point of care ultrasound, management of trauma patients, post-operative critical patients, sepsis, and coagulopathies.

During his free time he enjoys fly fishing, camping with his wife, spending time with family, and his many dogs.
